Claim: 🚨 INTELLIGENCE UPDATE — PAKISTAN POWER STRUGGLE Highly placed sources within Pakistan’s intelligence community have shared the following. I consider these sources credible, but where independently unverified, these remain intelligence-source claims: 1/ Maryam Nawaz has arrived in London. Sources claim an official jet was provided at public expense for what is essentially a personal trip, allegedly involving certain cosmetic procedures. A senior General joked: “It isn’t easy staying fit enough to maintain the Mashooq-e-Aala position.” If the trip is personal, the real question is simple: why should taxpayers pay for the aircraft? 2/ Contrary to the “self-exile” narrative being circulated about President Asif Ali Zardari, my sources say Zardari will return to Pakistan within days as a “victorious President.” Sources claim Mohsin Naqvi has assured him that he will remain President and the proposed division/redrawing of Pakistan’s provinces will not be raised again—for now. The trolling by alleged ISI-linked troll factories appears, according to my sources, to be face-saving. Watch Zardari’s return. 3/ Most importantly: Imran Khan has NOT given Asim Munir an NRO. My information is that Khan remains unwilling to compromise with the military establishment on its terms. Sources allege negotiations are instead being pursued by the Gohar Khan-led PTI group—the “Gobar Group” as I call it—in an attempt to hijack PTI while keeping Imran Khan isolated. More on this tomorrow. 4/ Major General Faisal Naseer, aka “Dirty Harry” to his critics, has been moved from DG(C) ISI to National Coordinator NACTA. The establishment's social-media machinery can package this however it wants. My sources see damage control after Munira Mistri turned Dirty Harry into a political liability. And NACTA? NO ACTION — COORDINATION TOTALLY ABSENT. That seems a rather more appropriate expansion. 5/ Now look at the attached NCCIA FIR against journalist Muhammad Bilal Ghauri over his content concerning Faisal Naseer and the NACTA appointment. My message: Laghay raho Brig Faheem Raza. You cannot protect Dirty Harry's reputation through FIRs. Sources also describe Mohsin Naqvi as so influential in the present CDF power structure that officers sarcastically call him the “de facto CGS.” That is intelligence-community commentary, not an official position. And Naqvi hates Faisal Naseer... 6/ Now the Sindh intelligence war. Sources claim former ISI Sector Commander Sindh Brig Ijaz Ahmad Abbasi continues trying to influence Sindh politics. They allege that the advice to PPP figures—including Sohail Sayal and Faryal Talpur—to create political space for PTI was part of Abbasi's strategy. Now look at Bilawal Bhutto publicly welcoming KP CM Sohail Afridi to Sindh and talking about: “tolerance, respect and coexistence.” But simultaneously PTI workers are being arrested in Karachi. Why? Sources claim the new Sector Commander ISI Brig Ahmad Ali Madni has been tasked with cutting the emerging PTI-PPP understanding down to size. Sources further claim Madni has been tasked with examining alleged corruption connected to Abbasi's tenure. So what we may be witnessing in Sindh isn't merely PPP vs PTI. It may be: OLD ISI STRATEGY vs NEW ISI STRATEGY. 7/ Then comes the bigger Rawalpindi reshuffle. My sources expect that after key appointments change across the Army, ISI and MI, the temporary power groups surrounding Mohsin Naqvi, Sarfraz Bugti and others will themselves face the axe. New people. Junior loyalists. Fresh faces. Better packaging. One source put it rather colourfully: “Dictator ka peshab bhi flush ho jayega.” The faces change. The power structure survives. Mistri perhaps doesn't merely want to remain kingmaker. Maybe Mistri wants to be King. 8/ 🚨 A warning for Sohail Afridi: Be extremely careful about Mohsin Naqvi. My sources believe Naqvi has his own political ambitions—including eventually positioning himself for the PM slot—and has been tasked with helping fracture PTI and isolate Imran Khan. Don't become the next “Dirty Harry”: useful today and discarded tomorrow. In establishment politics, tissue paper has a very short shelf life. 9/ And finally, the dangerous Punjab/KP narrative. Maryam Nawaz says she feels more threatened by a neighbouring province than by the neighbouring country. Fawad Chaudhry AKA Dabbu then portrays the terrorism problem as essentially Pashtun/tribal while declaring the state merely a victim. Imtiaz Gul correctly raised the uncomfortable historical counterpoint: Hafiz Saeed. Masood Azhar. Azam Tariq. Fazlur Rehman Khalil. And: Muridke. Bahawalpur. Jhang. Pakistan's militant problem did not begin with the TTP. Major militant and sectarian organisations historically emerged or operated from Punjab as well. That does not make Punjabis collectively terrorists—just as the TTP does not make Pashtuns collectively terrorists. But anyone attempting to ethnically pin terrorism on Pashtuns should first confront the complete history. 10/ And this is where the proposed redrawing/division of provinces becomes extremely dangerous. Those dreaming of some politically engineered “Greater Punjab” should understand that Pakistan is a federation, not the private property of Asim Munir, the Sharifs, or any General or political dynasty. If provincial and ethnic divisions are deliberately weaponised to consolidate political power, the consequences could be catastrophic for the federation. Pakistan has already learned this lesson once. 1971 didn't begin when the map changed. First politics broke. Then trust broke. Then the federation broke. The real story right now is bigger than PTI vs PML-N vs PPP. It is a struggle between political parties, competing establishment interests, new and old intelligence networks—and a jailed Imran Khan who, according to my latest information, still refuses to sign the deal.
