This brings the total death toll among unarmed protesters to over 100 since the protests for rights began on June 7, 2026.
The current AJK elections were boycotted but are alleged to have been rigged to ensure victory for the ruling party in Islamabad and PunjabтАФa government that already faces questions of legitimacy following reports of rigging in the February 2024 elections. Army Chief Asim Munir and the military leadership are accused of direct involvement in both the election rigging and the repeated massacres of civilians.
