On 21 April 2026, a joint intelligence-based operation was conducted by Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies in Khyber District in response to reported presence of khwarij. The operation involved intense exchanges of fire and skillful engagements by own forces, resulting in the neutralization of twenty-two khwarij members associated with the Indian-sponsored Fitna-al-Khwarij. During the confrontation, khwarij forces fired indiscriminately, leading to the martyrdom of a ten-year-old civilian. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from those killed. A sanitization operation is underway to eliminate any remaining khwarij in the area. The continued counter-terrorism campaign under Vision Azm e Istehkam (approved by the Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) will persist at full pace to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country, with these sacrifices further strengthening the resolve of security forces and law enforcement agencies.
